Our herd of friendly trail riding horses welcomes the opportunity to show you the beauty of Florida’s Nature Coast along the trails of the Goethe Forest and Black Prong Resort.

Meet Lisa! Lisa is Trail Manager Emily’s personal horse. Emily and Lisa both started working on Mackinac Island MI in 2014 at Cindy’s Riding Stable. Lisa made it clear that she did not want to be a rental horse and would rather be Emily’s personal horse, so Emily purchased her and their adventures began. After 5 years together guiding trail rides on the island, Emily and Lisa went on to work at eventing barns in Maryland, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. Lisa believes she is the star of the show and loves the attention she gets in her travels. She is very vocal and always looks for someone with treats. Lisa is happy to be back in the world of trail riding and uses her lead mare personality to excel at guiding the other horses.

Meet Sarge! Sarge is a bay roan horse who came from a ranch in Texas with Hazel. He is a true gentleman with a heart as big as his stride, Sarge is a friendly and reliable companion who loves life on the trail. Sarge worked hard as a ranch horse, herding cattle and exploring rugged terrain, but now, he's living his best life as a trail horse, enjoying peaceful rides and developing a refined taste for different kinds of treats. He’s the kind of horse that’ll make you smile, and if you have a mint you’ve definitely got his attention!

Meet Finn! Finn used to live just down the road in Citra FL at an English riding barn. He is a flaxen chestnut Belgian draft cross who is a true gentle giant. He is serious and focused, always putting forth his best effort to take care of his riders. He’s deeply in tune with his environment and his quiet, dignified presence makes him an exceptional partner. This big-bodied beauty may look tough on the outside, but his true nature is quiet and gentle.

Meet Hazel, the hardworking and reliable blue roan with a can-do attitude! Hazel is originally from a ranch in Texas where she and her brother Sarge lived the cowhorse life. Her focus and dedication make her a dream to ride for true beginners to advanced riders. As a former ranch horse, Hazel truly enjoys getting out on the trail to do a day’s work and has come to love being doted on and taking naps in her stall.

Meet Filly! Filly is a paint mare who spent the majority of her life as a trail horse traveling around the country on horseback camping trips. When she was with her previous owner she had a colt, and was later leased out to work in a kids jumper lesson program. Filly loves to explore the world around her with a relaxed pace, always eager to discover something new while staying as calm and gentle as can be. Her round, happy figure matches her warm, loving personality and she’s especially great with kids and beginner riders. She’s a sweet, curious horse with a big heart and an even bigger appetite!

Meet Max! Max is a dappled grey percheron who was an Amish driving horse in Texas. He is definitely our class clown but he knows when it’s time to get to work. You can catch Max as a guide horse where his substantial width comes in handy when keeping the other horses in line because it takes two business days to pass him or as a flashy carriage horse. Max is a perfect combination of strength, hard work and a whole lot of goofy charm.

Meet Shine, the dazzling diva of the barn! Shine used to live in Gainesville as a trail horse. She is a palomino leopard appaloosa, which is a super unique color pattern. If Barbie came to ride at Black Prong, she would surely choose to ride Shine. With a personality as bright as her name, Shine is the ultimate girly girl. She’s sensitive and intuitive and always in tune with her rider’s mood. Shine’s beauty and charm shine through in everything she does!

Meet Lottery! He is an older guy who has spent many years as a camp horse but he truly won the lottery when he was chosen for our program- and so did we! His beautiful palomino color matches his heart of gold and his slow, mellow personality makes him the perfect match for kids of any age. He may not win any races, but he’s always up for a gentle stroll through the Goethe. His patient, calm demeanor makes him not just a great horse, but also a great pal-o-mine-o!

Meet Lady! Lady is a registered paint mare with two blue eyes. She is originally from Anthony FL where she lived with a donkey buddy. She’s incredibly sweet, loves attention and will always be there for a good cuddle or scratch behind the ears. As one of the youngest horses in the barn we’re dedicated to giving her positive, confidence- building experiences on the trail. As she continues to learn and grow, Lady’s gentle nature and playful spirit make her a truly special horse with so much potential.

Meet Shaboozey! This handsome black Percheron cross is a trail and carriage star! He was originally an Amish pulling horse but then was trained for riding by a fox hunter in North Carolina. She brought him to Ocala for the winter and as soon as we tried him we knew he’d be perfect for our program. His positive attitude makes him a pleasure to have in the barn. A true workhorse, Shaboozey’s willingness and reliability ensure that every ride and drive is a smooth and enjoyable one, no matter the adventure ahead.
